AI Visual Design
AI visual design and art direction
Concept-led imagery made with generative tools: the look and feel of an idea before, or instead of, a full production.
What this covers
- AI-generated visual concepts for brands and campaigns
- Visual storytelling across a sequence of images
- Art direction: defining a mood, palette and style and holding to it
- Experimental compositions
- Digital visual systems that keep many images consistent
- Generative creative workflows built for a specific project
How it differs from AI graphic design
AI graphic design is applied: a post, an ad, a product visual with a job to do this week. AI visual design sits earlier and wider. It asks what a brand or idea should look like at all, and answers with images instead of adjectives.
The output is often a direction rather than a deliverable: a set of visuals that a brand, a campaign or a website is then built around.
The craft is in the direction
Anyone can generate one striking image. The work is in producing twenty that clearly belong together, tell one story and still look right next to a logo and a headline. That takes the same judgment as traditional art direction, applied to a new kind of tool.
When it is useful
When you are defining a new brand, pitching a campaign, exploring a creative direction before committing budget, or want visuals with a distinct character that stock imagery cannot give you.
Questions
Can these visuals be used commercially?
That depends on the tools and the use. We agree this at the start of a project so the workflow fits what you need the images for.
Do you combine AI visuals with web design?
Yes. A visual direction developed this way can carry straight into a website I design and build.
